Test Pilot is typically licensed to companies, schools and school districts for installation on their own web servers for authoring and delivering tests, tutorials and surveys to their constituents. ClearLearning recognizes that not everyone has access to a web server, or may be involved with outside Internet service providers who are unwilling, unable, or unprepared to install online applications such as Test Pilot on their web servers. Furthermore, we realize that some of you may wish to give Test Pilot a more thorough testing than our limited 30-day trial allows. It is for those individuals that ClearLearning offers our hosting service where subscribers can create and deliver their Test Pilot assessments from ClearLearning's own servers.

When you sign up for a ClearLearning Hosting account, you will be issued an account name and a password to use to access your personal Test Pilot Enterprise (v4) assessment index on one of ClearLearning's servers. You'll be permitted to use all of the advanced features of our popular Test Pilot Enterprise software in order to author your assessments and deliver them to any number of participants.

Storage Limits

Accounts are limited, initially, to a single 30 megabyte block of storage. More may be purchased if needed. One block is sufficient to store 30,000 question responses. These can be reused and distributed among any number tests or surveys. To calculate your storage requirements, use this simple formula: (# of participants) x (# of tests) x (# of questions per test) For example, if you had 30 students in your class, you could store responses to 20 tests of 50 questions each to remain within the limit. Note that once you print or download the scores and results to any test, you may erase the responses and reuse the space formerly occupied. Thus, you can offer many, many tests to your students. Of course, discounts for yearly contracts and multiple blocks of storage are available. We also offer businesses the ability to have their own ClearLearning-managed dedicated server. Call for details.

You'll be permitted to use industry standard FTP programs to both upload media files and any associated web pages you may wish to use, and to download and backup your tests and response data. In effect, you'll be able to maintain your very own assessment web site on ClearLearning's server.

Monthly Rates

Our hosting service may be purchased in any number of monthly increments online using the buttons and fields below or by check, money order or purchase order. Information for filling our your purchase order may be found below. ClearLearning charges the following rates for a single author account using its hosting services:

• Educational Single Author per 1 block (see above) storage limit at $49 each / month
• Commercial Single Author per 1 block (see above) storage limit at $225 each / month<

Requirements

As always, ClearLearning software is platform independent and lets you use the computer and operating system of your choice. The requirements for authoring tests are those same minimal requirements for authoring with Test Pilot on your own web server:

• a version 4 or greater web browser such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer with it Javascript capabilities turned on.
  
  
• for uploading and downloading files to and from ClearLearning's servers, you'll need an industry standard FTP program such as Netscape Navigator / Communicator, Interarchy for MacOS or WinFTP for Windows.
  
  
• if you plan to create your own media files (pictures, sound, video), an appropriate program for authoring such media would be required to be installed on your computer
  
  
• you must agree to accept the terms of the software license.

Ordering

Purchase orders are only accepted for totals of $250 or more. Credit cards are accepted for all levels of ordering.

You can fax or mail your order directly to ClearLearning. Carefully follow the four steps below when composing your order:

1. Select the number of months of hosting and the appropriate price level from the information above.
   
   
2. While we need the standard information such as a phone number, address and organization, be sure that you specify the name and e-mail address of the individual who will be assigned an account to use our hosting service. Without a name or e-mail address, we will be unable to create an account.
